What is the best transportation method to travel around Sri Lanka?

If you are a diehard budget backpacker, the best way to travel around Sri Lanka is public transportation. Because it is cheap, fun, and the best way to engage with locals. hiring a rental car is possible anyplace but it is not very much cheap here. Fuel is much expensive compare to other Asian countries. however, you can choose a normal bus, semi-luxury bus or luxury bus, or train to travel around.

Trains are affordable

Travel by train for long-distance is the cheapest way but it can be slow. On a train, there are three classes which call first class, second class, and third class. The third class is very very cheap and it normally costs less than Rs 100 for 30km-to 50km. apparently, First class is expensive but comfy.

You can book tickets before your riding date. Because anyone can't predict the crowd of the train it is depending on the time and date you are going to travel. When you are buying a ticket, they will give you a piece of cardboard with a date and place you're going to go.

Don't throw away it until you reach your destination. Because some officer of the railway department can come to your seat at train and can ask your ticket to check. If it hasn't with you, they can ask some penalty for your mistake and it can be a ruff situation. so, Don't misplace your tickets until you back off. After checking in, they will give it back to you and when you go out from the railway station they again can ask for it. After they keep it and you can go.

MUST- I highly recommended taking a train ride from Kandy to Ella. It is stunning and you probably fall in love with it.
