Fall in love with Waterfalls in Dedugala (Nalagana Ella 2021)

Nalagana Ella is one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Sri Lanka. The reason for that is, it has a clear view from the bottom. This waterfall is located in most scenery road called "Dedugala" and  It is a paradise. It is very close to Bulathkohupitiya town. There are two ways to go to the waterfall. If you come from the Ruwanwella side, turn right from Bulathkohupitiya junction and come to the Dedugala road. On that road, you can see Rikili Ella before Nalagana Ella.

If you come from the Kegalla, come from Dolasbage road and turn to Dedugala Road. On that road, you can see Rukmali Ella before the Nalagana Ella. Those 3 falls are located within 5Km. 

However, To reach Nalagana Ella, you have to go on some gravel road and the fall is not visible to the main road directly. This road is not in good condition. The bike is the only suitable vehicle for this road.  You can park your vehicle on the main road and walk to the fall. It has less than 1Km distance. 

The waterfall view is amazing. In the Sinhala language, Nalagana means a "dancing woman". The waterfall looks like the hair of a dancing woman. That's why is called Nalagana Ella.  I can't express its beauty by words. The water comes from the Ritigaha Oya reservoir a tributary of the Kelani river.  Therefore, It also called "Ritigaha Oya fall".If the water level is low, You can go to the bottom of the waterfall. The height of the fall is 40ft and it has wide equal to that amount. 

I should mention, The water level is changing frequently without giving any warning. Therefore, You don't take risks and do dangerous things. The area is famous for leeches, leech socks, or repellents such as citronella oil can come in handy. February to April is the ideal month to visit the waterfall.

In my point of view, The place is mesmerizing. You can take plenty of Instagram pictures. If you are lucky, You can look waterfall with full of water.  Another important thing you should do is, leave a place the way you found it. If you are carrying any plastic items with you, make an effort to dispose of them responsibly.
