The Most Scary Adventure of my life...

 Nil diya pokuna is a place who willing to take adventures unique experiences in the world. This an underground cave that has a crystal clear water pond. Apparently, this cave was made by king Rawana as his underground tunnel complex. The founded evidence is not enough to prove it logically. Even though, Local people believe that the kind was kept Seeta hidden in this cave until Rama was found. As a tourist, this is the best place to delve. 

I should mention, this was the scariest adventure I ever did. This not a place for everyone. Because entering the cave is not easy. Explorer has to take a high risk even for his life. Are you excited to know the story behind the journey, this is for you.

How we can found the entrance?

Nil diya pokuna is located in Ella close to Wellawaya road. It is good to know, it has two entrances. One is going from the forest and the other is open to private property. We chose the second part as our entrance. we had 4 members team for the journey.

I highly encourage to set a team at least with four members. Because The tour can be a danger, You should hire a guide.it is impossible to find ways as your own. . It has different parts and those can't identify correctly without having experience one. 

First, our guide was jumping into the hole( to the entrance). You never expect that kind of entrance for the cave. Normally, we imagine a big rock door or hole as an entrance to the cave. But, this not a door like that. Actually, It looks like a rabbit hole and it did not exist horizontally. We had to go to a vertical cave and only had a rope to get any help. The guide explained to us how we should keep our legs and climb down to the bottom. one by one entering the cave and our clothes become dirty because this area was covered by mud. I was really scared to into the cave, there is no natural light in the cave. we only had a headlight own to every person. That was the only light which we could see at the bottom. 

After climb down to the bottom using rope, we had to go down 10m using a ladder and rope. I didn't need to go anymore to the cave, it was that much gruesome journey. If we unsupposed to hold rope and ladder correctly, we definitely falling down to the endless bottom. My legs were not kind to me anymore, They were In a fight against me. There was no any way to miss this, I already entered the cave and I couldn't find the correct path to go back. However, I went through the ladder and entered to arduous part of the cave. In that place, we couldn't go stand, we needed to Control our bodies and go through the narrow path. It was difficult for me, even I was a short man.

Then we came to the large hole and it was open to lots of holes to different paths. It had a very big space like a football court. We were so tired as we came more than an hour now.  We sat on the rock and rest few minutes. Then we saw the bats and unknown insects were flying around the area and they came close to us because we had a light. It was like a horror movie.

We hurry up and go down to the cave. We met a staircase made and it was the beginning of another gruesome experience. The soil was too lucy, If we keep our legs unbalance, we were going to a gigantic deep hole.   I didn't need to die like this, so kept my legs carefully as possible.  We only had an elusive sight of the cave through the entire journey with our small light. 

After two hours hard-working, we came to our paradise. I couldn't believe my eyes. It was amazing. Glimpse, I couldn't see the pond. We couldn't see the pond until the water shakes. It was clear that much. I did not see a pond like this in my entire life. it had crystal clear water with a stunning view. I taste the water and I was surprised. It was soo good. The depth of the pool is around 30m. If you want, you can bathe in front of the area. Who can wait, without a bath in this infinity pool? we took a quick bath and I was soo glad about that.

We spent more than 30 minutes in there and heading back to the top. Getting a bath, we were refresh and got the energy to climb back to the entrance. It was not too hard like before. We could come out within an hour. Finally, we saw sunlight after 3 and half hours. Our clothes were dirty and we didn't bring any extra ones. 

That was the super scary day of my life. but, I never regret that, Because I got a very big life lesson. Our guide was an interesting man, I highly recommend him.  Sri Lanka is a place to collect lots of adventures. 

Tips

• Don't bring the heavy bags to the cave
• Bring some swim dress to take a bath in the pool
• Bring some extra cloth and keep them outside in the cave or another place
• No need to take a water bottle, water in the pool is drinkable
• It is good if you wear shoes
• Bring enough lights, the cave is dark 
• Be ready to take a risk
